Tansukh had two of his sons living at Anandpur under the patronage of Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh. They sent a copy of a translation of Hitopade&#347a, made by one of the Gur&#363's poets, Lakkhan R&#257i, to their father at Ra&#7751thambore. The prosodic forms used by Lakkhan R&#257i were doh&#257, or rhymed couplet, and sora&#7789h&#257 or couplet with centre-rhyme. Tansukh decided to reversify the contents using the form chaupa&#299 or stanza of short-lined rhymed couplets with other metres interspersed. He completed the work in 1684 and named it R&#257jn&#299t&#299 Granth. Its language is Hindi.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Bhall&#257, Sar&#363p D&#257s, Mahim&#257 Prak&#257sh.
