D&#299v&#257n Si&#7749gh was a follower of Cha&#7789&#7789h&#257s of Ras&#363lnagar. Sobh&#257 Si&#7749gh's father, Hukam Si&#7749gh had served under Mah&#257&#7749 Si&#7749gh Sukkarchakk&#299&#257 and afterwards under Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh in their various campaigns of conquest and died while fighting against the Y&#363safza&#299s. Sobh&#257 Si&#7749gh was granted the villages of Qil&#257 D&#299v&#257n Si&#7749gh and Ko&#7789ga&#7771h on the death of his father. He served under Misr D&#299v&#257n Chand in Kashm&#299r, and fought in various battles on the northwest frontier, including those of &#7788er&#299 and Pesh&#257war (1823). He broke fealty with the Sikh Darb&#257r and helped the British with supplies in the Anglo-Sikh war of 1848-49.
