Bh&#257&#299 Si&#7749gh&#257 was, along with B&#257bak the musician, sent to escort the Gur&#363's daughter, B&#299b&#299 V&#299ro, who on the eve of her marriage had accidently been left behind in Amritsar when the family was evacuated to the village of Jhab&#257l at the time of the attack in 1629 by the Mughal commander, Mukhlis Kh&#257n. She was brought out safely through the Mughal lines. Early next morning Bh&#257&#299 Si&#7749gh&#257, at the head of 500 Sikhs, was sent forward to meet the host as the Sikh warrior, Bh&#257&#299 Bh&#257n&#363, had been slain fighting against the vanguard. As says Bh&#257&#299 Santokh Si&#7749gh, Sr&#299 Gur Prat&#257p S&#363raj Granth, a shot from Muhammad 'Al&#299, the Mughal officer opposite him, wounded Si&#7749gh&#257's horse. The animal fell down along with his rider, but Si&#7749gh&#257 recovering his composure, shot an arrow at Muhammad 'Al&#299, killing him instantaneously. Bh&#257&#299 Si&#7749gh&#257 now became the target of the enemy's attack and fell a martyr in the unequal contest.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Gurbilas P&#257tsh&#257n&#299 Chhev&#299&#7749.
