In 1631, when Gur&#363 Hargobind was staying with his brother-in-law, S&#257&#299&#7749 D&#257s, at &#7692araul&#299, his first wife, D&#257modar&#299, fell seriously ill. Her parents Bh&#257&#299 Nar&#257i&#7751 D&#257s and M&#257t&#257 Day&#257 Kaur, on receipt of this information, set out from their village, &#7692all&#257, in the Do&#257b&#257, for &#7692arauli. As they arrived at Sarh&#299&#7751&#257, hardly 6 km short of &#7692araul&#299, they learnt that not only D&#257modar&#299, but their elder daughter, R&#257mo, and her husband S&#257&#299&#7749 D&#257s, had also died. This was more than the old couple could bear and they died of shock. Gur&#363 Hargobind had their bodies carried to &#7692araul&#299 for cremation. At Sarh&#299&#7751&#257, the villagers established a small shrine in memory of the Gur&#363 and his parents-in-law. The present building, a rectangular hall including within it an octagonal domed sanctum, was constructed in 1944. A b&#257ol&#299 was added in 1956. The Gurdw&#257r&#257 is affiliated to the Shiroma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee and is managed by the local sa&#7749gat.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Gi&#257n Si&#7749gh, Gi&#257n&#299, Tw&#257r&#299kh Gur&#363 Kh&#257ls&#257.
