In 1787 he was married, at Amritsar, to Ratan Kaur, daughter of Ga&#7751&#7693&#257 Si&#7749gh, the Bha&#7749g&#299 chief. Five years later, he contracted a second marriage, with &#256s Kaur, daughter of Gurd&#257s Si&#7749gh Cha&#7789&#7789h&#257. During his minority, D&#299w&#257n N&#257n&#363 Mall, first with the advice and counsel of M&#257&#299 Hukm&#257&#7749, grandmother of S&#257hib Si&#7749gh, and after her death with the help of B&#299b&#299 R&#257jindar Kaur, the aunt of the R&#257j&#257, managed the affairs of the state. Even when he assumed ruling powers, S&#257hib Si&#7749gh, was guided and helped by his sister, S&#257hib Kaur, who by her strong leadership saved the state in 1794 from usurpation by the Mar&#257&#7789h&#257s. After S&#257hib Kaur's death the real power passed into the hands of R&#257&#7751&#299 &#256s Kaur, the R&#257j&#257's wife.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;R&#257j&#257 S&#257hib Si&#7749gh died at Pa&#7789i&#257l&#257 on 26 March 1813.
