Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Sher Si&#7749gh made him governor of Kal&#257naur and the Lahore territory south of the Sutlej. After the assassination of Sher Si&#7749gh, he was imprisoned by R&#257j&#257 H&#299r&#257 Si&#7749gh upon whose death Waz&#299r Jaw&#257har Si&#7749gh appointed him governor of Jasro&#7789&#257. Later he served as governor of Jehlum and Roht&#257s. In 1848, Misr R&#363p L&#257l joined hands with Chatar Si&#7749gh A&#7789&#257r&#299v&#257l&#257 to fight against the British. After the annexation of the Punjab by the British, he was dismissed from service and his property was confiscated.
