Shortly thereafter he was recalled to Lahore and, in 1832, was sent to Anandpur S&#257hib to settle the dispute among the So&#7693h&#299s, who ruled the town on behalf of the Lahore Darb&#257r. R&#257m Di&#257l remained there for five years and was, on his return to Lahore in 1837, honoured with a <i>j&#257g&#299r</i> in Ludhi&#257&#7751&#257 district. Later, he was appointed the Darb&#257r's <i>vak&#299l</i> at F&#299rozpur. His despatches from F&#299rozpur deal with events such as the meeting between Lord Auckland and Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh in December 1838, the military pageant of Lord Ellenborogh in 1842, the return of General Pollock's army at F&#299rozpur after the successful K&#257bul campaign, and the discovery of R&#257j&#257 Suchet Si&#7749gh's treasure of 1,500,000 rupees at F&#299rozpur on the eve of the first Anglo-Sikh war.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; R&#257i R&#257m Di&#257l died at Lahore in 1863, survived by two sons, R&#257i Ghas&#299&#7789&#257 Mall and R&#257i Basheshar Si&#7749gh.
