He is said to have become a divisional commander at the age of 16. In 1814, during the second expedition of Kashm&#299r, he had independent command of a force of 30,000 men, besides charge of commissariat. R&#257m D&#299al took part in several other military expeditions. He was sent out aganist the Y&#363safza&#299s in Haz&#257r&#257, and he fought in Mult&#257n under Misr D&#299v&#257n Chand in 1818 when the town was finally taken by the Sikhs.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; In 1819, R&#257m Dial was appointed governor of Attock and Haz&#257r&#257 where the Y&#363safza&#299s had again risen in revolt. In 1820, he led an expedition against the turbulent tribes of Haz&#257r&#257 and the surrounding areas gathered in large numbers at Gandga&#7771h. But the mass of Af<u>gh</u>&#257n tribes proved too formidable a force. R&#257m Dial was obliged to retreat, but was ambushed on the way and killed.
