It is said that as Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh, accompanied by Mah&#257&#7749t Kirp&#257I D&#257s, was proceeding from Hehr&#257&#7749 to Kam&#257lpur, he was stopped here and served with a drink of milk by one M&#257&#299 Bha&#7789&#7789&#299. He was pleased at the old lady's devotion and invited her to ask for a boon. M&#257&#299 Bha&#7789&#7789&#299 wished only for further opportunities to serve him. She requested him to be seated on a cot and allow himself to be carried thus by her sons to the next place of halt. The Gur&#363 granted her request. The cot was carried to Kam&#257lpur on the shoulders of the three sons of M&#257&#299 Bha&#7789&#7789&#299, one at each corner, Mahant Kirp&#257l D&#257s putting his shoulder to the fourth corner.

A memorial was established in the village probably by M&#257&#299 Bha&#7789&#7789&#299 herself. The present building of the Gurdw&#257r&#257 is, however, of modern construction. It consists of a rectangular hall with a verandah in front, and a domed room in which the Gur&#363 Granth S&#257hib rests for the night.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Gi&#257n Si&#7749gh, Gi&#257n&#299, Tw&#257r&#299kh Gur&#363 Kh&#257ls&#257 [Reprint].
