Once, as Gur&#363 Amar D&#257s visited &#7693all&#257, he, accompanied by another Bhall&#257 Khatr&#299 of the village, Bh&#257&#299 Tuls&#257, called on him and proudly announced that they too were of the Bhall&#257 caste to which he (the Gur&#363) himself belonged. According to Bh&#257&#299 Man&#299 Si&#7749gh, Gur&#363 Amar D&#257s remarked, "The Gur&#363 has no caste. Castes and clans are attached only to the body which is destructible." Another couplet from Gur&#363 N&#257nak: "Neither caste nor position will be recognized hereafter. Totally differently are men known there. They alone will be pronounced good whose merit is recognized worthy of honour" (GG,469).
