As they arrived, Gur&#363 N&#257nak, says Bh&#257&#299 Man&#299 Si&#7749gh, Sikh&#257&#7749 d&#299 Bhagat M&#257l&#257, was speaking with his disciples. Prith&#257 and his companion sat down and listened attentively. At the end, the Gur&#363 enquired of them the purpose of their visit. Bh&#257&#299 Prith&#257 said, "Pray, grant us the gift of contentment so that we need to seek nothing whatsoever. Refuge at thy feet is all we ask for." The Gur&#363 spoke, "Seek refuge in sa&#7749gat, fellowship of the holy. The body is material (hence, impermanent); it is the sabad (the Word) that is everlasting. So is union with sabad. Simultaneously, do not neglect to apply yourself diligently to earning your living and to sharing your victuals with the needy." Bh&#257&#299 Prith&#257 and Bh&#257&#299 Khe&#7693&#257 took the precept and, as says Bh&#257&#299 Gurd&#257s, led a life of sukh-sahaj, i.e, peace and equipoise.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Man&#299 Si&#7749gh, Bh&#257&#299, Sikh&#257&#7749 d&#299 Bhagat M&#257l&#257.
