<p class="C1">&#65279PART&#256P&#362, BH&#256&#298, a professional soldier, came to Gur&#363 Arjan, offered obeisance and spoke with folded hands, "Weilding of arms is my trade. Pray, advise me how best my soul can be saved." Gur&#363 Arjan, as recorded by Bh&#257&#299 Man&#299 Si&#7749gh, <i>Sikh&#257&#7749 d&#299 Bhagat M&#257l&#257</i>, said, "When death comes no one will save you, and until then no one can harm you. Therefore, be fearless in battle, but fight only for a righteous cause. When out of battle, be charitable. Through charity your arms shall be blessed, through charity you shall earn renown." Bh&#257&#299 Part&#257p&#363 became a disciple and was so highly regarded for his devotion and piety that Bh&#257&#299 Gurd&#257s made a special mention of him in his composition, the <i>V&#257r&#257&#7749</i>.</p>
