Written in Bh&#257kh&#257 sometimes between 1728 and 1740 when its author Bh&#257&#299 Sahaj R&#257m happened to be staying with Bh&#257&#299 A&#7693&#7693an Sh&#257h, another leading Sev&#257panth&#299 saint, the work was edited by Bh&#257&#299 H&#299r&#257 Si&#7749gh Mahant and published in1966 by the Sev&#257panth&#299 A&#7693&#7693an Sh&#257h&#299 Sabh&#257, Pa&#7789i&#257l&#257. The book comprises in all twenty <i>s&#257kh&#299s</i>, i.e. stories or anecdotes, relating to the life of Bh&#257&#299 Kanhaiy&#257. The book lays more stress on the spiritual aspect of the saint's personality than on biographical detail. Only such incidents and happenings from his life are related as highlight his spiritual attainment and philanthropic activities.
