After the death of his patron, Fateh Si&#7749gh, in 1807, in the battle of Narainga&#7771h, he went over to Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh, who placed him in a regiment and gave him in <i>j&#257g&#299r</i> the villages of Aim&#257 and Fatehpur in Amritsar district. Pañj&#257b Si&#7749gh took part in various campaigns of the Mah&#257r&#257j&#257. After the conquest of Multan in 1818, he was granted additional <i>j&#257g&#299rs</i> subject to the service of 125 horse.
