<p class="C1">&#65279P&#256KPA&#7788AN, a <i>tahs&#299l</i> town in S&#257h&#299w&#257l (Montgomery) district of Pakistan is known for the tomb of the famous S&#363f&#299 saint Shai<u>kh</u> Far&#299d ud-D&#299n Shakargañj (1173-1266). Gur&#363 N&#257nak visited P&#257kpatan during his travels through that part of the country. At the time of that visit he fell into a discourse with his successor, Far&#299d II, at a place which is now marked by Gurdw&#257r&#257 N&#257naksar, about six kilometres to the west of the town, commemorating the Gur&#363's visit. Gur&#363 N&#257nak's birth anniversary continued to be marked as a religious fair here until the partition of the country in 1947.</p>
