He entered the service of the Sukkarchakk&#299&#257s under Cha&#7771hat Si&#7749gh as a trooper and later became a commander. Under Mah&#257&#7749 Si&#7749gh, he served with distinction in the campaigns of Ko&#7789l&#299 and Si&#257lko&#7789. In 1799, a Sukkarchakk&#299&#257-Kanhaiy&#257 force,6,000 strong, marched against the Cha&#7789&#7789h&#257 chief, P&#299r Muhammad, whose territories extended on the eastern side of the river Chen&#257b. Pah&#257&#7771 Si&#7749gh led a contingent and distinguished himself in the battle of Ras&#363lnagar. The victory in the battle secured him <i>j&#257g&#299rs</i> worth Rs 11,000 near Ras&#363lnagar, renamed R&#257mnagar. Pah&#257&#7771 Si&#7749gh took part in several campaigns under Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh, including that of Attock in 1813. He occupied Attock by subduing its Af<u>gh</u>&#257n governor, Jah&#257&#7749d&#257d <u>Kh</u>&#257n.
