<p class="C1">&#65279M&#362SAN, BH&#256&#298, son of Bh&#257&#299 Samman of Sh&#257hb&#257zpur, in the present-day Amritsar district of the Punjab, was, like his father, a devoted Sikh of the time of Gur&#363 Arjan. The Gur&#363 Granth S&#257hib contains a composition entitled <i>Chaubole</i> by Gur&#363 Arjan in which several couplets are addressed to M&#363san. These couplets stress the importance of loving devotion as a means of spiritual fulfilment.</p>
<p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;The anecdote in the <i>Sikh&#257&#7749 d&#299 Bhagat M&#257l&#257</i> describes the death of Bh&#257&#299 Samman's son by marauders' bullet but does not mention M&#363san by name.</p>
