Both brothers had earlier served under the &#7693ogr&#257 r&#257j&#257, Gul&#257b Si&#7749gh. After the arrest of his brother in May 1847, Mohr&#257 joined Bh&#257&#299 Mah&#257r&#257j Si&#7749gh; a Sikh revolutionary leading a resistance movement against the British. He was with him in Jamm&#363 and again joined him at S&#363jov&#257l, near Ba&#7789&#257l&#257.
