He added Amb&#257l&#257 and Z&#299r&#257 to the territories he had inherited and soon became an influential figure among the cis-Sutlej chiefs. In September 1779, he at Th&#257nesar waited upon 'Abdul Ahd <u>Kh</u>&#257n who was then leading an expedition against Pati&#257l&#257, and received from him a <i>khill'at</i> of five pieces, a <i>sarpech</i>, and a sword. In 1785, Mah&#257dj&#299 Scindia, regent of the Mu<u>gh</u>al empire, decided to win over the Sikhs by a treaty of friendship, and sent Amb&#257j&#299 I&#7749gle to start negotiations. The Sikhs deputed Mohar Si&#7749gh and Dulch&#257 Si&#7749gh, of the K&#257ro&#7771si&#7749gh&#299&#257 <i>misl</i>, as their representatives, first to meet Amb&#257j&#299 I&#7749gle and then Mah&#257dj&#299 Scindia, at Mathur&#257. As a result of these parleys a treaty was signed by Mohar Si&#7749gh and Dulch&#257 Si&#7749gh with Mah&#257dj&#299 Scindia on 9 May 1785.
