He was the son of Sukkh&#257 Si&#7749gh Pa&#7693h&#257&#7751&#299&#257, and entered the service of the Sukkarchakk&#299&#257 <i>misl</i> under Mah&#257&#7749 Si&#7749gh, who assigned to him a <i>j&#257g&#299r</i> worth Rs 12,000 annually. In 1804, in Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh's reign, he had command of 500 horse. He took part in Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh's occupation of Lahore (1799) and distinguished himself in the Kas&#363r (1807) arid Kashm&#299r (1814) expeditions. He was killed in action during the retreat of the Sikh forces from Kashm&#299r in 1814.
