In April 1685, he invited the Gur&#363 to spend some time with him at N&#257han which had a cool climate and abounded in game. The Gur&#363 accepted the invitation and travelled to N&#257han. As he reached the vicinity of the town (14 April 1685), R&#257j&#257 Medin&#299 Prak&#257sh came out to receive him and took him to his palace and looked after him and his Sikhs in a most hospitable manner. Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh lived in the N&#257han territory for about three years and got a fort built at P&#257o&#7751&#7789&#257. The years spent at P&#257o&#7751&#7789&#257 were the most creative and significant in the Gur&#363's career. While in the Sirm&#363r territory, Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh had also to fight a battle at Bha&#7749g&#257&#7751&#299 on 8 September 1688 (15 April 1688 according to some sources) against R&#257j&#257 Bh&#299m Chand and his allies. Though victorious in battle, Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh left P&#257o&#7751&#7789&#257 for Anandpur soon afterwards. R&#257j&#257 Medin&#299 Prak&#257sh, who did not join the hill chiefs in their battle against Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh, incurred the displeasure of both the princes and the Mughal government. He died issueless in 1704.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Bachitra N&#257&#7789ak

Sukh&#257 Si&#7749gh, Gurbil&#257s Dasv&#299&#7749 P&#257tsh&#257h&#299.
