He fought in the Mult&#257n and Kashm&#299r campaigns of 1818-19. He also fought at the famous battle of Jamr&#363d in April 1837, where his nephew died fighting. L&#257l Si&#7749gh was appointed in 1848 to co-operate with the <i>ad&#257lat&#299</i> or chief justice of the M&#257jh&#257 region, holding the command of fifty horse. L&#257l Si&#7749gh held half of Talva&#7751&#7693&#299 in proprietary rights.
