He took part in the Sikh expedition to Kashm&#299r in 1819 under Misr D&#299v&#257n Chand. After this he was for three years employed as governor of Mult&#257n, and was subsequently appointed to the command of a cavalry regiment known as Pi&#7751&#7693&#299v&#257l&#257 &#7692er&#257, which he led in several actions, the last one of them being the battle of Sabhr&#257o&#7749 (10 February 1846). On the annexation of the Punjab in 1849 he was granted a life pension, which for a time he enjoyed together with the <i>j&#257g&#299r</i> in Kashm&#299r. This <i>j&#257g&#299r</i> in Kashm&#299r was resumed by Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Gul&#257b Si&#7749gh.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Pa&#7751&#7693it L&#257l Kaul died in 1849.
