Kirp&#257l Chand was ambitious and adept in diplomacy. He is said to have incited R&#257j&#257 Bh&#299m Chand of Kahl&#363r to pick up a quarrel with Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh and expel him from his territory. On the other hand, he sent a messenger to the Gur&#363 requesting him to disregard the pretensions of the R&#257j&#257 of Kahl&#363r. However, he joined hands with the hill chiefs and fought against Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh in the battle of Bha&#7749g&#257n&#299 (AD 1688). In the battle of Nadau&#7751 (20 March 1691), he fought on the side of the Mughal commander, Alif Kh&#257n, and in the battle of Guler (20 February 1696) on the side of Husain Kh&#257n.
