The D&#299w&#257n's membership consisted mostly of Ja&#7789&#7789 Sikhs of the Virk clan who were concentrated in several villages (Jhabbar being one of them) around Ch&#363h&#257&#7771k&#257&#7751&#257 in the Lower Chen&#257b Canal Colony in Sheikh&#363pur&#257 district. Initially, this D&#299w&#257n was engaged in purely religious and reformist activities and worked especially for the spread of education among Sikhs of this area. During 1919, in the wake of the Jalli&#257&#7749v&#257l&#257 massacre, the D&#299w&#257n veered round to politics and redesignated itself Ak&#257l&#299 Dal Khar&#257 Saud&#257 B&#257r, ultimately merging with the Shiroma&#7751&#299 Ak&#257l&#299 Dal established in December 1920.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Narai&#7751 Si&#7749gh ed., Ak&#257l&#299 Morche te Jhabbar.
