According to Sar&#363p D&#257s Bhall&#257, <i>Mahim&#257 Prak&#257sh</i>, he used to give discourses at the afternoon gatherings called by the Gur&#363 at Goindv&#257l. The words <i>keso gop&#257l pa&#7751&#7693it</i>, appearing in the Gur&#363 Granth S&#257hib in the composition entitled <i>Sadd</i> and taken by traditional commentators as alluding to an historical person, have been proved by modern scholars, on the basis of linguistic analysis and textual interpretation, as referring generally to holy men of God. However, according to an old manuscript, Mahim&#257 Prak&#257sh Sr&#299 Gur&#363 Amar Dev, one Kesho Pa&#7751&#7693it was head of a mañj&#299, appointed by Gur&#363 Amar D&#257s.
