Besides being a close relation, he was a confidant and ally of R&#257j&#257 Bh&#299m Chand of Kahl&#363r, who once deputed him to Anandpur to seek from Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh the loan of an expensive tent and a rare elephant. R&#257j&#257 Bh&#299m Chand was playing a ruse on Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh who, seeing through the design, told his emissary that he could not part with what were the offerings and presents of his Sikhs. Kesar&#299 Chand joined the hill chiefs who fought Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh in the battle of Bha&#7749g&#257&#7751&#299 in 1688.
