As long as he remained in Lahore, he endeavoured, at the instigation of Aj&#299t Si&#7749gh and Atar Si&#7749gh Sandh&#257&#7749v&#257l&#299&#257, then in British territory, to foment trouble and subvert the authority of Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Sher Si&#7749gh. At the time of the murders in Lahore of Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Sher Si&#7749gh and his son Part&#257p Si&#7749gh on 15 September 1843, he was with his father at Th&#257nesar. When in May 1844, Atar Si&#7749gh, with a small force, crossed the Sutlej to join Ka&#7749var Pashaur&#257 Si&#7749gh, Kehar Si&#7749gh accompanied his father. He escaped unharmed in the contest that occurred.
