On Himmat Si&#7749gh's death without issue in 1771, Karam Si&#7749gh succeeded him in the leadership of the Nish&#257n&#257&#7749v&#257l&#299 <i>misl</i>. Karam Si&#7749gh commanded a force of 750 horse and 250 foot. In 1779, he joined 'Abd ul- Ahd, minister of Delhi, in his expedition against Pa&#7789i&#257l&#257. In January 1786, Karam Si&#7749gh and others plundered the Ga&#7749g&#257 Do&#257b. Again in April 1790, a body of 12,000 Sikhs led by Karam Si&#7749gh ravaged the Do&#257b including H&#257pu&#7771, 57 km from Delhi, and 'Al&#299ga&#7771h. Karam Si&#7749gh sent his <i>vak&#299l</i> to Mah&#257dj&#299 Scindia, regent of the Mu<u>gh</u>al empire, demanding more grants of lands in the Do&#257b.
