He was married to R&#363p Kaur, daughter of Bha&#7749g&#257 Si&#7749gh of Th&#257nesar. Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Karam Si&#7749gh helped the British in 1814 in checking Gurkh&#257 incursions into the Punjab hills and secured in return a large tract in the Him&#257layan foothills. He was an able ruler and a devout Sikh.
