<p class="C1">&#65279K&#256NPUR (26º-25'N, 80º-17'E), formerly Kanhaiy&#257pur, possesses a Sikh shrine sacred to Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur. Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur visited the site at the beginning of 1666 while on his way to the eastern parts. The memory of his visit was kept alive by a modest single-roomed shrine which was developed into the present Gurdw&#257r&#257 Sr&#299 Gur&#363 Te<u>gh</u> Bah&#257dur by Sant Praduman Si&#7749gh in the early years of the twentieth century. The present building, a multi-storeyed modern structure, was completed in 1971. The ground floor serves as a reception hall. In the hall on the first floor, non-stop recital of the Gur&#363 Granth S&#257hib continues simultaneously on several <i>b&#299&#7771s</i>. The Gurdw&#257r&#257, registered as the Sr&#299 Gur&#363 Si&#7749gh Sabh&#257, is administered by a local managing committee.</p>
