Kanhaiy&#257 L&#257l was later appointed head of the finance office under D&#299w&#257n Mot&#299 R&#257m during the latter's second tenure of office as governor of Kashm&#299r. Kanhaiy&#257 L&#257l was employed as manager of the salt mines of Pi&#7751&#7693 D&#257dan <u>Kh</u>&#257n when those mines were made over to Gul&#257b Si&#7749gh of Jamm&#363.
