Prem Si&#7749gh had to seek a place under a relation, Des&#257 Si&#7749gh Maj&#299&#7789h&#299&#257, with ten <i>sov&#257rs</i> or horsemen, in which capacity he continued to serve Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh until his death in November 1824.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jaw&#257har Si&#7749gh joined the service of Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh in 1836 along with his brother Jaimal Si&#7749gh. He proceeded to Pesh&#257war with Lahi&#7751&#257 Si&#7749gh when the latter marched out to relieve the Sikh army after the battle of Jamr&#363d in April 1837. Jaw&#257har Si&#7749gh also served under Lahi&#7751&#257 Si&#7749gh in the hill country of Ma&#7751&#7693&#299.
