After matriculating from Mission School, R&#257walpi&#7751&#7693&#299, he passed his B.A. examination from Gordon College, R&#257walpi&#7751&#7693&#299. In 1921, he became a member of the Shiroma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee, and was elected its general secretary on 16 July 1922. He was arrested in connection with the Gur&#363 k&#257 B&#257<u>gh</u> agitation and was released on 14 March 1923. He suffered jail again in the Jaito <i>morch&#257</i>. He was set free on 26 January 1926 and, when fresh elections to the Shiroma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee took place, he was elected a member.
