This is believed to be the place where, according to M&#257lv&#257 Desh Ra&#7789an d&#299 S&#257kh&#299 Poth&#299, Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh, during his travels through the M&#257lv&#257 country, rested awhile in the forest under a ber tree. The name Ja&#7751&#7693 S&#257hib was given it later, probably because of the abundance of ja&#7751&#7693 trees (Prosopis spicigera) in the forest. The present building was constructed during the 1970's through k&#257r-sev&#257 or voluntary service by followers of Sant Gurmukh Si&#7749gh. Located in a walled compound entered through a magnificent gateway, the sanctum is in the middle of a square, marble-floored hall. Above it is a lotus dome lined with white glazed tiles, and in the rear a pavilion used as a d&#299v&#257n hall for bigger gatherings, usually on new-moon days. Gur&#363 k&#257 La&#7749gar is in a separate, but adjacent, compound.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

M&#257lv&#257 Desh Ra&#7789an d&#299 S&#257kh&#299 Poth&#299.
