Jai Si&#7749gh was a good soldier and took part in many of the Mah&#257r&#257j&#257's campaigns. As a reward, he was granted <i>j&#257g&#299rs</i> in Shei<u>kh</u>&#363pur&#257 district. In 1817, when he was too old for active service, he was appointed a judge at Amritsar.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Jai Si&#7749gh died in 1827. Of his sons, Ma&#7749gal Si&#7749gh had been killed fighting against the Naw&#257b of Manker&#257 in October 1821.
