<p class="C1">&#65279&#298SHAR SI&#7748GH, BH&#256&#298 (1888-1921), one of the Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib martyrs, was born at R&#363pov&#257l&#299 in Gurd&#257spur district on 13 S&#257van 1945 BK/27 July 1888, the elder son of Bh&#257&#299 Vadh&#257v&#257 Si&#7749gh and M&#257&#299 Lachhm&#299. Around 1906, the family migrated to Chakk No. 33 Dh&#257rov&#257l&#299 in Shei<u>kh</u>upur&#257 district in search of a better living. At Dh&#257rov&#257l&#299 contact with Lachhma&#7751 Si&#7749gh, who was a devout Sikh, changed the course of his life. He started to learn reading and writing Gurmukh&#299 and went through the <u>Kh</u>&#257ls&#257 rites of <i>p&#257hul</i>. He journeyed with him to the Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib and was in his <i>jath&#257</i> of Ak&#257l&#299 reformers which was massacred to a man on the fateful morning of 20 February 1921. <i>See</i> NANK&#256&#7750&#256 S&#256HIB MASSACRE. The Shiroma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee settled upon his widow a pension of Rs 11.5 per month and paid Rs 410 in lump sum to discharge the family debt.</p>
