He received the rites of <u>Kh</u>&#257ls&#257 <i>p&#257hul</i> at the hands of Bh&#257&#299 Lachhma&#7751 Si&#7749gh Dh&#257rov&#257l&#299. A few days before the Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib occurrence Bh&#257&#299 Lachhma&#7751 Si&#7749gh came to his village to enlist volunteers for the liberation of Gurdw&#257r&#257s at Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib. Bh&#257&#299 Ichchhar Si&#7749gh and his brothers Dharam Si&#7749gh, Samm&#257 Si&#7749gh and B&#257r&#257 Si&#7749gh had their names enrolled.
