When Dil&#257war Kh&#257n learnt of the disaster suffered by the imperial expedition led by his son against Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh, he sent his commander, Husain Kh&#257n, to avenge the defeat. Husain Kh&#257n proceeded towards Anandpur with a large army at the beginning of 1696. Several hill chiefs submitted to him. On the way, Husain Kh&#257n got involved with R&#257j&#257 R&#257j Si&#7749gh (R&#257j&#257 Gop&#257l of the Bachitra N&#257&#7789ak) of Guler, who failing to produce the heavy tribute levied upon him was ready for an armed conflict. Bh&#257&#299 Sa&#7749gat&#299&#257 and seven other Sikhs who were sent by Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh as an embassy of peace to the court of the Guler chief also took part in the battle. Husain Kh&#257n was supported by the r&#257j&#257s of K&#257&#7749g&#7771&#257 and Bil&#257spur. In the fierce action (20 February 1696) that ensued, Husain Kh&#257n was slain and the R&#257j&#257 of Guler and his allies won a decisive victory. Sa&#7749gat&#299&#257 and his seven Sikhs fell fighting in this bloody battle.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Bachitra N&#257&#7789ak.

Kuir Si&#7749gh, Gurbil&#257s P&#257tshah&#299 10.
