Under the influence of Bh&#257&#299 Vary&#257m Si&#7749gh, H&#299r&#257 Si&#7749gh turned an Ak&#257l&#299 and was drawn into the movement for the reform of Gurdw&#257r&#257 management. He went through the rites of <u>Kh</u>&#257ls&#257 initiation and attended the Ak&#257l&#299 conference at Dh&#257rov&#257l&#299 on 1-3 October 1920. He participated in the campaign for the liberation of Gurdw&#257r&#257 Khar&#257 Saud&#257 on 30 December 1920, and joined Bh&#257&#299 Lachhma&#7751 Si&#7749gh's <i>jath&#257</i> for the liberation of Gurdw&#257r&#257 Janam Asth&#257n, Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib, where he along with others was mowed down on 20 February 1921 by the hired assassins of Mahant Narai&#7751 D&#257s, the custodian of the Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib shrine.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Since he had not married, his martyrs' pension of Rs 15 per month, granted by the Shioma&#7751&#299 Gurdw&#257r&#257 Parbandhak Committee, was received by his mother.</p> </font> <p class="BIB"> BIBLIOGRAPHY<p class="C1"><ol class="C1">Shamsher, Gurba<u>kh</u>sh Si&#7749gh, <i>Shah&#299d&#299 J&#299van</i>.
