Haz&#257r&#257 Si&#7749gh was drawn into the Sikh movement for the reform of Gurdw&#257r&#257 management, then raging in the Punjab. He joined the <i>jath&#257</i> (corps of volunteers) of Bh&#257&#299 Lachhma&#7751 Si&#7749gh of Dh&#257rov&#257l&#299 which, on 20 February 1921, met with a savage fate at the hands of the assassins hired for the purpose by the custodian of the Sikh shrine of Nank&#257&#7751&#257 S&#257hib. Some of the <i>jath&#257</i> were roasted alive upon a pile of firewood sprinkled with kerosene oil. Haz&#257r&#257 Si&#7749gh was one of the three persons who could be recognized even after the blaze had swept through them.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Haz&#257r&#257 Si&#7749gh was survived by his wife and infant daughter.
