<p class="C1">&#65279HA&#7770&#298, BH&#256&#298, a Kohl&#299 Khatr&#299, was one of the prominent Sikhs of Lahore in the time of Gur&#363 Arjan. Once he, along with Bh&#257&#299 K&#257l&#363 and Bh&#257&#299 N&#257n&#363, masons by trade, waited on the Gur&#363. According to Bh&#257&#299 Man&#299 Si&#7749gh, <i>Sikh&#257&#7749 d&#299 Bhagat M&#257l&#257</i>, they spoke to him : "Lord, your hymns are elixir for the soul, and Sikhs recite them morning and evening. Are they all liberated irrespective of the merits of their actions?" The Gur&#363 replied, "No, how can those who sing the sacred hymns only to feed their own ego or desire for pleasure be saved? They alone receive liberation who sing or listen with faith, and with concentration."</p>
