Here Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh stayed for a short while on the bank of a pool of water, which Bh&#257&#299 Santokh Si&#7749gh, Sr&#299 Gur Prat&#257p S&#363raj Granth, describes as Rukh&#257l&#257, probably because of the thick growth of trees (rukkh, in Punjabi) around it. The place then formed part of the village of Jal&#257l, 2 km to the southeast of it. The habitation that originally grew up near the Gurdw&#257r&#257 was washed away in the floods of 1950, but the old shrine stood intact. In this domed shrine, marking the site where Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh alighted for rest, is preserved a bedstead said to have been used by him. The Gur&#363 Granth S&#257hib is seated in one of the rooms constructed recently. The old pool, converted into a lined sarovar, is at the back of the shrine. The Gurdw&#257r&#257 is maintained by the village sa&#7749gat.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Sa&#7749tokh Si&#7749gh, Bh&#257&#299, Sr&#299 Gur Prat&#257p S&#363raj Granth.
