Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh passed through here travelling from the nearby village of Sar&#257v&#257&#7749 during his journey westward from D&#299n&#257 in December 1705. The t&#257l or &#7693h&#257b, lit. a large pond, came to be known as Gur&#363 k&#299 &#7692h&#257b in honour of the Gur&#363's sojourn. Most of the area has since been reclaimed for cultivation, but a gurdw&#257r&#257, with a small octagonal sarovar by its side, was constructed during the 1970's. Large gatherings take place on every full-moon day and the first of every Bikram&#299 month attracts devotees in large numbers, especially women with small children, from the surrounding villages.

BIBLIOGRAPHY

M&#257lv&#257 Desh Ra&#7789an d&#299 S&#257kh&#299 Poth&#299.
