In 1673 Bh&#257&#299 Hari Jas, a Subhikkh&#299 Khatr&#299 of Lahore, had while on a visit to Anandpur betrothed his daughter J&#299to to him and had desired that the marriage party should come to Lahore where the marriage would be performed with due dignity. But the fateful events leading to the martyrdom of Gur&#363 Tegh Bah&#257dur intervened, and in the changed circumstances it was not possible for the young Gur&#363 to go to Lahore. A temporary encampment was therefore raised near the village of Basantga&#7771h and named Gur&#363 k&#257 Lahore. Bh&#257&#299 Hari Jas with his family and relations took up his residence there. Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh at the head of the marriage procession arrived from Anandpur and the nuptials were held on 23 H&#257&#7771 1734 Bk/21 June 1677.
