The <i>Gurpran&#257l&#299</i> can be divided into three parts. In the first part are given the dates and places of birth of all the Gur&#363s along with the names of the children born to them. The following folios record the date and name of place where each of the Gur&#363s departed this life. At the end is given the total duration of each Gur&#363's spiritual office. Following the <i>B&#257l&#257 Janam S&#257kh&#299</i> tradition, K&#257rtik (October-November) is mentioned as the month of Gur&#363 N&#257nak's' birth.
