<p class="C1">&#65279GURMUKH SI&#7748GH (1799-1870), son of Fateh Si&#7749gh, belonged to the village of Tu&#7749g, near Amritsar. In 1816, he joined Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh's army. He was given command of 100 horse and placed under Misr D&#299v&#257n Chand and, after the latter's death in 1825, under Des&#257 Si&#7749gh Maj&#299&#7789h&#299&#257. Gurmukh Si&#7749gh served as commandant in the R&#257mga&#7771h&#299&#257 Brigade and took part in several battles including those of Mult&#257n (1818), Kashm&#299r (1819), Manker&#257 (1821) and Pesh&#257war (1822) . He also fought in the first Anglo-Sikh war of 1845-46 in which his brother, Nidh&#257n Si&#7749gh was killed .</p>
<p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Gurmukh Si&#7749gh died in 1870.</p>
