Sikh principles explained and illustrated : <i>Sudh&#257kar</i>= the moon, i.e. the illuminator) is an anthology by Bh&#257&#299 K&#257hn Si&#7749gh, of N&#257bh&#257, of excerpts from old Sikh historical texts and manuals of stipulated conduct. The work, first published in 1899, is divided into sixteen chapters. The opening chapter comprises verses from Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh, the second from Bh&#257&#299 Gurd&#257s and the third passages from the Janam S&#257kh&#299 of Bh&#257&#299 B&#257l&#257. The fourth chapter is culled from <i>Gurbil&#257s Chhev&#299&#7749 P&#257tsh&#257h&#299</i>. Chapter five is based on V&#257r 1 from Bh&#257&#299 Gurd&#257s. Chapter six repeats the commentary on V&#257r XI of Bh&#257&#299 Gurd&#257s. Chapters seven and eight contain the sayings of Bh&#257&#299 Nand L&#257l and of Bh&#257&#299 Des&#257 Si&#7749gh. The ninth chapter summarizes the book <i>Prem Sum&#257rag</i>. Chapters ten and eleven present sayings from the <i>Rahitn&#257m&#257</i> of Bh&#257&#299 Chaup&#257 Si&#7749gh and the sayings of Bh&#257&#299 Day&#257 Si&#7749gh. Chapter twelve contains verses from <i>Sr&#299 Gur Sobh&#257</i> of Sain&#257pati, poet contemporary of Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh. Chapter thirteen offers excerpts from the famous historical text, the <i>Panth Prak&#257sh</i>. Chapters fourteen and fifteen consist of sayings from Gur&#363 Gobind Si&#7749gh and chapter sixteen reproduces verses from <i>Gur&#363 N&#257nak Prak&#257sh</i> and <i>Sr&#299 Gur Prat&#257p S&#363raj Granth</i>.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; These extracts from old Sikh sources are heavily annotated.
