The author, a contemporary and for some time an employee of Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh was a Sandh&#363 Ja&#7789&#7789 of the Lahore district. His father was Chaudhar&#299 Hem R&#257j, and his elder brother, H&#299r&#257 Si&#7749gh, was the founder of the Naka&#299 family. Among his other works are <i>Amrit Mahim&#257, Gur Ustati, Parsa&#7749g P&#257tsh&#257h&#299 Dasv&#299&#7749</i> and <i>H&#257timn&#257m&#257</i>, besides several independent poems.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Gurba&#7749s&#257v&#257l&#299 which is more a good piece of literature than a document of historical information starts with homage to the Gur&#363s. The author records that Gur&#363 N&#257nak, son of K&#257l&#363 Meht&#257 and M&#257t&#257 Tript&#257, was a Bed&#299 Khatr&#299. The Gur&#363 had two sons, Sr&#299 Chand and Lakhm&#299 D&#257s. He lived up to the age of 70 years, 5 months and 7 days.</p> <p class="C1">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Gur&#363 N&#257nak's spiritual successor, Gur&#363 A&#7749gad, was of the Treha&#7751 sub-caste. He was married to Kh&#299v&#299 and had two sons, D&#257s&#363 and D&#257t&#363. The author does not mention the Gur&#363's two daughters, B&#299b&#299 Amaro and Anokh&#299. His time is computed to be 12 years, 6 months and 9 days.
