He was first married to the daughter of R&#257j&#257 Ham&#299r Si&#7749gh of N&#257bh&#257 and then to Sad&#257 Kaur, daughter of Dasaundh&#257 Si&#7749gh Gill. Sad&#257 Kaur, who became Mah&#257r&#257j&#257 Ra&#7751j&#299t Si&#7749gh's mother-in-law, acquired great fame during her son-in-law's early days. Gurba<u>kh</u>sh Si&#7749gh who accompanied his father in his various campaigns of conquest won reputation as the conqueror of the K&#257&#7749g&#7771&#257 Fort which he seized from its Af<u>gh</u>&#257n occupant in 1783.
